Cadiz (EFE) .- The city of Cadiz prepares to receive more than 40,000 spectators this weekend to enjoy the spectacle of the SailGP World Circuit. F50 catamaran race, considered the “Formula 1” of the sea, which takes place in its waters.
A thousand members of the Civil Guard and National Police, and other security forces, will be deployed to the city to ensure the safety of this event, which is held for the second time in city waters.
It is expected to exceed 40,000 spectators
Last year it attracted around 40,000 spectators, according to data provided by the organization. However, this time they should be matched or surpassed.
The Municipality has put in place a program of over 70 sports, cultural and recreational activities to accompany the competition of these boats. These reach 100 kilometers per hour driven only by the wind.
Between them, carnival shows in the pavilion of the Genovés park, the Mentidero square and the Carlos III promenade. Also flamenco in the Plaza de San Juan de Dios and concerts and DJs in the Plaza de San Antonio. It is completed with batucadas in different streets of the historic center.
An impact of 20 million euros
A commitment to give prestige to a sporting event that last year generated an economic impact of about 20 million euros in the city and its surroundings.
