Madrid, 23 Sept. (EFE) .- Cloud cover will progressively increase in the eastern third and in the Balearic Islands, where downpours and thunderstorms are expected today, locally strong in northern Aragon, Catalonia and the Valencian Community, according to the Meteorological State Agency (Aemet).

Cloudy intervals will increase to cover the sky in Galicia and the Cantabrian area, albeit with light rains.

In the rest of the Peninsula the sky will be slightly cloudy or with some intervals, but without precipitation.

In the Canary Islands, intervals are expected in the north of the islands, without excluding some weak precipitation in those with greater relief; and with few clouds in the south.

Maximum temperatures will drop in the northwestern third peninsula, rise in Cadiz, Valencia, Aragon and Catalonia and remain with little variation in the rest; the minimum will rise in the center and north of the peninsula, and will descend in Extremadura.

The wind will blow from a northern component in Galicia, and from the northwest in the Bay of Biscay, from the southeast in the lower Ebro, in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, moderately from the east in the Strait and from the northeast in the Canary Islands. In the rest, there will be a variable light wind.


– GALICIA: medium and high cloudiness in the morning, including large clearings in the south in the afternoon. Probability of morning mist and also fog in the western third, in the interior of Lugo. In the northern third light rains from the end of the afternoon without excluding scattered precipitation in the morning. Minimum temperatures slightly decreasing on the south-west coast and on Mount Ourense; and slightly increasing in the rest; maximum downhill except in La Mariña and Rías Bajas where they will remain constant. Wind from the northeast on the Costa da Morte and weak variable in the rest, with a tendency in the morning towards a northern component, while it intensifies on the south coast and at night in the north.

– ASTURIE: cloudy sky that will increase to cover. Possibility of morning mists or mists in the north-west interior. Light rains and showers at night, less likely in the south, although some showers scattered over the Cordillera in the morning are not to be excluded. Minimum temperatures rising and maximum decreasing. Weak variable winds, which will intensify and tend to a westerly component on the coast and a north-westerly direction in the interior.

– BASQUE COUNTRIES: Intervals of medium and high clouds, and some low at dawn, which will increase during the morning until leaving a cloudy or overcast sky with scattered rains and showers, more frequent and intense at the end of the day in the eastern end of Guipúzcoa . Minimum temperatures rising and maximum decreasing in the west and south and unchanged in Guipúzcoa. Weak variable winds, which will intensify, with a tendency to a west component on the coast and a north component in the interior.

– CASTILLA Y LEÓN: slightly cloudy sky with intervals of medium and high clouds, which will increase throughout the day from north to south, without excluding weak and scattered precipitation in the northern third, especially in the mountains, and in the extreme east, where it is expected evolutionary cloudiness, which may be accompanied by a thunderstorm. Minimum temperatures rising, except in the southwest, and maximum decreasing or unchanged in the southwest. Weak variable wind, north-east direction in the north-east quadrant and west direction in the rest.

– NAVARRA: intervals of high clouds and some low clouds at dawn in the western half, which will increase during the morning to leave a cloudy or overcast sky, with rain and showers in the afternoon, which may be accompanied by thunderstorms, more frequent and intense in the Pyrenees and the eastern third, where they can be locally strong at the end of the day. Minimum and maximum leavening temperatures with few changes. Weak variable winds, with a tendency in the afternoon to the north and north-west.

– LA RIOJA: slightly cloudy sky with intervals of medium and high clouds, and with a certain tendency to increase cloudiness and to cover itself, without excluding light scattered precipitations, which occasionally can accompany a thunderstorm. Not even low clouds and patches of morning fog are excluded. Minimum temperatures rising and maximum temperatures unchanged or slightly decreasing. Wind from the southeast with a tendency to lose variable at the end of the day.

– ARAGÓN: Cloudy intervals in the morning, with a tendency from midday to cloudy or covered by showers and thunderstorms which can be locally strong and more likely in the northern third of Aragon and in the east of Teruel. Rising temperatures, especially the minimum. Weak wind from south and south-east.

– CATALONIA: cloudy intervals in the early hours of the day, without excluding scattered and occasional showers in the southern half of the coast. From noon there will be a tendency towards cloudy or overcast skies, with showers and thunderstorms from the afternoon which can be locally strong. Temperatures without sudden changes or with local rises. Weak winds from the south, with moderate intervals on the coast, stronger on the north coast.

– EXTREMADURA: partly cloudy sky with high clouds, with some cloudy intervals in the north. Minimum temperatures falling, maximum with few changes. Weak variable wind with a tendency to the west component.

– COMMUNITY OF MADRID: slightly cloudy sky, which will increase at intervals of medium and high clouds, more abundant in the mountains. Minimum temperatures unchanged or slightly increasing; maximum unchanged or slightly decreasing. Weak variable winds with more intense intervals from the south-west in the central hours.

– CASTILLA-LA MANCHA: slightly cloudy sky that will increase at intervals of medium and high clouds, more abundant in the Central and Iberian systems, as well as some evolutionary cloudiness intervals. A downpour, occasionally accompanied by a thunderstorm in the eastern third, cannot be ruled out. Minimum temperatures rising in the eastern half and unchanged in the rest; peaks slightly decreased in Guadalajara and Ibérica Cuenca and without changes in the rest. Weak variable winds with a prevalence of the southern component in Albacete and south-west direction in the remainder, in the central hours.

– VALENCIAN COMMUNITY: In the morning, cloudy intervals and low probability of scattered and occasional showers in the coastal areas. In the afternoon the sky will tend to become cloudy or overcast, with showers and thunderstorms, less likely towards the south of Alicante and which may be locally strong in the areas of Castellón and Valencia. Minimum temperatures unchanged and maximum temperatures rising in Castellón and Valencia. Weak variable winds with a southerly tendency at noon and moderate wind intervals on the coast in the afternoon.

– REGION OF MURCIA: cloudy intervals, without excluding occasional showers that may be accompanied by thunderstorms, more likely in the interior during the afternoon. Morning mists. Temperatures with slight variations. Variable light wind, with breezes.

– BALEARIC ISLANDS: cloudy intervals with occasional and scattered showers. Temperatures with little variation. Light wind and coastal breezes.

– ANDALUSIA: slightly cloudy sky, although with intervals of low clouds and mist on the coasts, without excluding the haze. Daytime cloudiness on the eastern third and the rest of the mountains, without excluding occasional showers from midday, more likely in the eastern mountains. Temperatures with slight variations. East wind in the Strait; variable loose in the rest, with a south-westerly trend on the Atlantic side.

– CANARY ISLANDS: in the north of the more prominent islands, cloudy skies, with little chance of weak and sporadic rains in the early morning and with a tendency to cloudy intervals in the central hours. In the north of Lanzarote, cloudy intervals with clear openings at midday. The rest is partly cloudy, with high cloud cover that will extend from the south-east to the north-west of the archipelago in the second half of the day. Temperatures with few changes, with some rises in the high areas. Northeast wind, more intense on the south-east and north-west sides of the islands with greater relief, where strong intervals are expected at dawn and at the end of the day.
