The loss of so many people will affect the income of the information sphere.

Judging by the statistics of Belstat, the last three months there has been a massive outflow of specialists from the IT sector.

If in March the balance of employed and dismissed was “minus” by 1,016 people, then in April it rose to 2,325, and in May to 2,787 people.

In just three months, according to official data, 6,128 more IT specialists were fired in the country than were hired. Employment in the sector decreased by 5%. Most of these people have relocated or completely terminated relations with companies that have Belarusian roots.

In 2021, according to official data, 122.6 thousand people were employed in the country in the form of “Information and Communication” activities, and this is a much wider area than just IT (it also includes publishing, telecommunications, etc.) . Accordingly, we can safely say that much more than 5% of employees, which are visible according to official data, have left the Belarusian “IT” over the past three months! In reality, this figure is likely to be much higher.

Today it is the only industry in the country that gives a stable increase in GDP. All the rest, even those that have recently been successful, sag (industry, transport, agriculture, etc.). Losing so many people in a field where the main money is earned by the brain will obviously affect her income very quickly. And this means that soon we risk losing the last driver of the Belarusian economy.

It is important to understand that a well-developed IT-sphere strongly “boosts” many other sectors of the economy, interacting with them, creating joint high-tech projects. In agriculture, these can be drones that collect information over fields and optimize the distribution of fertilizers, in the transport sector – “unmanned” trucks, in medicine – data processing applications, etc. Belarusian developers were involved in each of these areas. Therefore, with their disappearance, the magic of synergy, due to which other industries developed in conjunction with IT, will also exhaust itself.

The vast majority of those IT people who quit did not go to work in a factory or in agriculture. It can be assumed that they simply left the country, writes the Nashi Groshi telegram channel. And, as they sometimes say, they have a chance to return before the first mortgage taken abroad. And this means that potential parents are leaving the country, which has long been experiencing a deep demographic crisis, and parents who could take care of their children and the future of the nation with the highest quality – due to their financial and social situation.
